The Belin House Organic Café at Hagley Offers Holiday Brunch on Weekends


Wilmington, Delaware – November and December 2010 – The Belin House Organic Café at Hagley will be serving holiday brunches Saturdays and Sundays, November 27 through January 2. Enjoy this delicious addition to a festive holiday tour of Hagley! The café will be open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. No reservations necessary.
The special holiday brunch menu is prepared using farm-fresh, locally grown, sustainable and organic products. Featured specialties are  la carte and include made-to-order omelets, pumpkin leek soup, open-faced roasted turkey sandwiches, Maryland crab cakes, warm apple cider, and more. The Belin House Organic Café is self-service with self-seating.
This year’s “Christmas at Hagley” exhibit is inspired by the winter pastimes of the property’s former residents. We welcome you to visit the exhibit, open Friday, November 26, 2010, through Sunday, January 2, 2011. The museum is open 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the first bus leaving for the exhibit at 10 a.m. and the last bus at 3:30 p.m. The holiday display is included in the cost of admission and is free for members. Hagley, located in the beautiful Brandywine Valley, is where the du Pont story begins and features the original du Pont mills, estate, and gardens. Hagley is closed Christmas Day.

Hear the Holidays at Hagley

Wilmington, Delaware – November and December 2010 – Hagley Museum and Library invites you to enjoy live choir performances during “Christmas at Hagley.” These local choirs have volunteered their time and voices to help spread holiday spirit! Performances will be held Saturday and Sunday from November 27 to December 19.
            The following choirs will be performing at Hagley: Chester County Choral Society (November 27), Diamond State Chorus Sweet Adelines (November 27), Opus One Vocal Jazz (November 28), Wilmington Christian School (December 4), The Boys from BVBC (December 4), St. Paul’s Choirs (December 4), St. Mary of the Assumption Adult Choir (December 5), Brandywine Valley Chorale (December 5), Zion Lutheran Church Choir (December 11), Ursuline Academy Chapel Choir Singers (December 11), Jubilate Deo from BVBC (December 11), Centreville Singers (December 12), Delaware Children’s Chorus (December 18), Cab Calloway School of the Arts (December 18), Concord Christian Academy Singers (December 18), Sanford Vocal Ensemble (December 18), and Madrigals of Concord High School (December 19). Family Fun during the Holidays at Hagley


Wilmington, Delaware – November and December 2010 – Hagley Museum and Library invites families to participate in the “Christmas at Hagley” activities on Workers’ Hill. Visit the Sunday School and Gibbons House to enjoy holiday pastimes. Activities include playing indoor games, baking and tasting old time recipes (cookies, biscuits, popcorn), doing handwork (knit, crochet, quilt, needlework), playing or listening to musical instruments, looking through a stereoscope, solving rebus brain teasers, and making a paper ornament. Activities on Workers’ Hill will be held November 26-30, weekends in December (4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19), and December 26 through January 2. “Christmas gives us pause to appreciate our friends and relatives,” says Angela Williamson, Hagley’s coordinator of volunteers. “Come take a peek into the holiday activities the powder yard workers and their families would have enjoyed together.”
