IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hagley Announces New Deputy Director for Museum Administration
Wilmington, Delaware - Hagley Museum and Library Executive Director Geoff Halfpenny has announced the appointment of a new deputy director for museum administration. Taking over the leadership of the museum on Monday, October 25, is Joan Reynolds Hoge, the current chief executive officer of the Delaware Historical Society.
According to Mr. Halfpenny, “I am thrilled that the position attracted someone of Joan’s caliber and accomplishments, and look forward to welcoming her to Hagley. Joan’s academic qualifications, depth of knowledge of our area and community, a proven track record of achievements in museum administration, exhibitions, and strategic planning will prove extremely beneficial to Hagley as we identify several strategic initiatives that focus on new programs and activities for the museum.  I have every confidence that Joan will take the museum to a new level of community engagement.”
Ms. Hoge has served as the chief executive officer of the Delaware Historical Society since 2003.  During her tenure she has led multiple long-range and strategic planning teams, developed changing and permanent exhibitions including the current “Almost as Fast as Birds Can Fly: The Railroad in Delaware History,” and oversaw the transfer to the Delaware Historical Society of the landmark mural Apotheosis of the Family by N.C. Wyeth from the WSFS Bank.  She is active in many professional organizations including the Rotary Club of Wilmington, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, and the Delaware State Historic Preservation Office.
